Edinburgh Bungalow Refurbishment

This typical Edinburgh bungalow near Duddingston had previously undergone very little alteration work and the traditional plan arrangement was now becoming too restrictive for the owners. With a young family and another child on the way they needed more space. They were also keen to improve existing internal organisation of the house.

With a large garden to the rear, well used by all the family, it was clear that any changes should aim to form a better link between the inside and outside spaces. Our solution was to form a route directly through the house, creating a wide hall to the rear of the house, giving a view of the rear garden when entering through the front door. This small adjustment immediately improved the functionality of the plan and introduced a feeling of openness, light and space whilst still maintaining the principal room arrangement.  A new extension to the side formed 2 new bedrooms, one with en-suite and another bedroom was formed within the attic space. Our services for this project included preliminary design proposals, Planning Application and Building Warrant drawings.
