While working at KSR Architects in London, Ben was the Project Architect for the construction phase for a terrace of 5 contemporary houses located in a conservation area near the centre of Hampstead. The houses had a very high specification both internally and externally with bespoke joinery to the bathrooms and a variety of solid timber and limestone floor finishes, all incorporating under floor heating. Externally, the use of brick and timber cladding was intended to give a warm, harmonious appearance, sympathetically blending both with the mature trees surrounding the site and the more traditional architecture of the neighbouring houses. The scheme won an award at the Camden Design Awards in 2006. The images shown below were taken by Graham Gaunt.
